I've been so excited to share the photos I had done over the weekend for my new website launch! The site's not ready just yet, but I would not have been able to keep the photos under wraps for another three weeks! Meghan's work is just too fantastic not to share!
Going back to how I met Meghan, the mastermind behind Creative Image Collections Photography...last year at some time my neighbor was attending Meghan's PBJ sessions, which are just fun nights out to discuss photography and the industry. I contacted her with the intention of networking since we were both in the wedding business. Over cocktails we found out we shared a lot of common interests and both have the same passion for our work. Unfortunately we weren't so great at keeping in touch--but on the flip side, the main reason is because we both just got so busy with our work. I got in touch with her recently when I decided to overhaul my website--I knew there was no one else who could take the shots and achieve what she would!
We met up on Sunday for the shoot after having to cancel on Friday for rain. I have to admit, I felt a little funny about having a self-portrait session taken--it seems a little arrogant to me, and I do not want to convey a narcissistic image. So I told Meg I wanted fun, light hearted shots full of color and personality--none of that bee-stung lip, Zoolander, wanna-be supermodel bullsh*t. I am so pleased with what she came back with!
Even Dino got in on the action. This was taken in a grassy field at a local park in Danbury. At this point, the end of the day, it was getting really hot, and I was pretty sure a few ticks or other creatures had crawled up my dress--we were laying in the grass for some of the shots! But the results are worth it I think!
I picked up this fabulous pink parasol the weekend before at the Elephant's Trunk Flea Market in Kent--it was $3, and I knew I had to have it for the shoot. I'm wearing a kimono style dress that fit me a leeeetle bit better last year--but thankfully we used the parasol to hide my boobs from spilling over...not an easy task!
Lots of these photos were shot on Main Street in downtown Danbury in front of a popular Brazilian restaurant. On Sunday right after church. At lunchtime. So needless to say there was quite a crowd, a bit of horn honking and plenty of bystanders asking to have their pictures taken! While we were shooting the scooter pics the mirror was causing a reflection problem and Dino saved the day with a new tip that I'm sure Meghan will use at other shoots--rubbing deodorant or chapstick on the reflective surface takes care of that problem right away!
Meghan has more of the full-size shots on her blog, so go over and take a look if you care to! And stay tuned for the new Mew website coming soon.
these photos are flippin foxy! sometimes you've gotta call in the pros to get really nice photos to use for your biz, it isn't arrogance. these photos will serve you well :-) love it!
